The Ancient Egyptians wrote hieroglyphics from top to bottom, and they enclosed names in a special outline called a "cartouche" Notice I have written my first name: "Dorothy." DO you see the cartouche I have drawn around it? Try yours!

Look at Native homes--what is similar to your own homes, and what is different? Watch the Wampanoag Way by the Plimoth/Pawtuxet Museum & Building a Wetu.Get your journal and a pencil and open to the First Nations page. Write what you already know and a question you have about that group of people. Now use the white page to draw a detailed home which could be made using only what is naturally grown around here--in Sudbury. No electricity or power tools allowed. You may consult with the links to see how such a home was built, but I would like to see YOUR own design. What would you change? What would you keep the same?
